OUT NOW:
DINGO BOLD

A book about dingoes, nature and family by Dr Rowena Lennox, award-winning writer, researcher, teacher and editor.

In 2015 Rowena Lennox met a dingo on the beach on K’gari/Fraser Island. Three months later he was killed by Queensland Parks rangers because he was deemed to pose a safety risk to people. This book is the story of his life, and of the lives of his family, the Eurong pack.

COMING SOON: Meet Rowena at Gleebooks in Sydney on Wednesday 16 April 2025, 6pm. Click here for details.

BOOKS

My nonfiction books – Dingo Bold and Fighting Spirit – might appear to be about vastly different subjects but both are about islands – K’gari and Timor Leste; both are about conflict and highly fraught political situations; and both are about colonialism.

ESSAYS

Some of my essays are about learning how to talk, learning how to articulate what I think and feel, and navigating my path through literature, history, family and loss. Some are scholarly investigations into First Nations people’s relationships with dingoes; contact history including dingoes; and how dingoes have been used as pesticide. Others are about writing: using interviews as a collaborative art practice, and how narrative affects how humans imagine and know other animals.
